a proper british landy …

is at home everywhere, but nowhere more so than right here at home. Personalised vehicles can be commissioned to meet your exact requirements for the domestic (UK) market, as well as for permanent export globally.

commissions range from interior refit and external styling to a complete rebuild from a bare chassis.

you can either supply your existing Land Rover for a complete overhaul, or allow outlander to source an ideal base vehicle for you.

the focus is always on maintaining the subtle charm of the vehicle that made it famous across the world, even if it stays right here in the UK.

where to begin…?

in the first instance, just call the number in the footer, use the contact page, or send an email. You chat the project through, discuss what your life looks like and what sort of Defender would help you get the most out of it. Options can be discussed and budget figures provided.

if, after this initial discussion, you feel that you would like to purse a project (and there is alignment on the overall concept) a deposit is paid to become a customer.

once the deposit has been paid, options for the base vehicle will be provided (if a suitable vehicle is not currently owned). These will generally be late model, low mileage vehicles that loosely match the desired finished article, as advertised by a network of trusted third party retailers. The customer then simply pays the ‘sticker price’ of the base vehicle with no mark up or handling fee and becomes the registered keeper.

the next stage is to finalise the scope of work via an itemised spreadsheet and pay 50% of the cost work. The work is carried out and the remaining 50% paid upon completion.

it’s as simple as that.

“this ancient and faithful domestic,

the pride of our island, uniting the useful, the brave and the docile, though sought by foreign nations and perpetuated on the continent, is nearly extinct where he probably was an aborigine, or is bastardized by numberless crosses, everyone of which degenerate from the invaluable character of the parent…”

- Sydenham Edwards writing about the Mastiff in 1800 (but could also be said to apply to the landy)

how to choose…?

during the initial discussions, drivetrains, body styles, interiors and exteriors will be discussed. Advice and guidance will be provided. Often customers reference previous projects or parts that they would like to use or adapt. A sample box is also provided to the customer, providing examples of the types of woods, metals and leathers available. Further, more specialised samples are provided as required. The customer can also supply their own house tweeds, or samples that they may wish to use.

what to choose…?

Customers are not overloaded with decisions and there are countless details and parts that will be taken care of without discussion in order to provide the complete vehicle. However, the elements shown below are the main building blocks of every commissioned project. Please tap or click on an element for more information.

other options…?

perhaps you already have a vehicle that you are relatively happy with, but would just like to introduce some outlander elements, or prefer to do the work yourself. Many of the above elements can be purchased in kit form and sent anywhere in the world.

perhaps you don’t quite see exactly what you want above. As most of the parts are made to order, bespoke orders are very welcome.

please just get in touch with any specific requests or individual orders.
