global commissions…
require a slightly different approach in order to satisfy the entry requirements of specific countries. These requirements mean that specific donor vehicles must be used for projects and work carried out must fall within prescribed limits.
it is possible for LHD vehicles to be supplied for the EU, with various drivetrains and interior options.
in order to satisfy USA entry criteria, vehicles must be over 25 years old and retain their original chassis and engine.
As with the UK Commissions, the building blocks for the projects are the unique outlander elements. Further information is available here:
EU SPEC
EU SPEC vehicles can be supplied in LHD. The exact scope of the work will be dictated by the entry and registration requirements of individual countries. However, there are a number of outlander vehicles already in the EU being enjoyed and element kits are regularly sent over.
US SPEC
this approach entails the rebuilding of the base vehicle to ‘as new’ zero mile standards, while retaining the original chassis and engine to satisfy US entry requirements. The advantage of this approach is that the finished vehicle is in absolutely pristine condition and offers the closest thing to driving a new 25 year old vehicle.
procurement
following a discussion and payment of a deposit, a suitable base vehicle is sourced and purchased for the client. Vehicles are selected from a global network of high quality and trusted sources. The vehicle shown here went on to become the Miami V8 and is a genuine LHD 50th Edition V8 that was purchased from Paris and shipped to Scotland for the work.
As mentioned the original engine block and chassis are retained to meet the entry requirements of the US.
drivetrain
the original engine is tripped down to the block and rebuilt as new. It is optimised to provide maximum power, usability and reliability. The outlander V8 is shown here and provides an authentic and enjoyable option, while meeting the requirements of US import. LS3 conversions can be carried out once in the US. Click on the engine for further information on the outlander V8.
bodywork
all Defender bodies are stripped to their individual component panels and parts and repaired or replaced as required. They are then painted to better than factory standard inside and out, before being reassembled with all new seals and stainless steel hardware. Glass roof panels can be added and any colour can be chosen or even created.
strip down
the donor vehicle is stripped to a bare chassis and repaired as necessary. The chassis is then powder coated and raptor coated to provide a durable and lasting finish.
transmission
as part of every commission, automatic or manual transmissions can be selected. These are new components, along with transfer box, propshafts and even axles if required. Attention is also given to the functionality and finish of the transmission, with the user interface being of paramount importance. Shown here is a 6spd auto mated to a LS3, including curved solid walnut console.
interiors
there is nothing quite like an outlander interior. It is where all the different elements come together to create something truly unique that will wear in, not out. The highest quality Scottish leathers, custom tweeds, walnut, aluminium and the latest technology all work together seamlessly. Since the beginning, the emphasis has been on quality.
